The COVID REPORT – stay at home order and local numbers

Stay at home order extended

We will not be going anywhere before June 2nd.

The current stay-at-home order was set to expire on May 20th, but all the current public health restrictions will stay in place until then.

Premier Doug Ford did not provide any more detail about reopening small businesses but said more information will be released before the end of this month.

Ford says until teachers unions and medical experts can agree students will remain at home doing on-line learning.

Ford says at that time he is hopeful that outdoor recreation activities can reopen but there is good reason activities like golf are not currently allowed.

He says to lift the restrictions they need to see more people vaccinated, a lower daily case count, and fewer people in hospitals and intensive care units.

A look at the local numbers

Public Health Sudbury & Districts is reporting two new cases of COVID-19, one in Greater Sudbury, the other in the Manitoulin District.

Seven are confirmed as positive while the other four are waiting test results.

There is only one person in intensive care.

Algoma Public Health is reporting three new cases, two in the Sault Ste. Marie area and one in Central East Algoma.
