A couple has been arrested and charged with fraud and other charges involving a pickup truck.
East Algoma OPP Constable Bev Gauthier says a common-law couple from Blind River purchased a used truck for over $40,000 from a car dealership in North York.
One of the accused was known as a bookkeeper to the victim and had access to the complainant’s personal information.
The couple needed a co-signer, so they forged the victim’s signature and the truck was delivered to Blind River.
After executing a search warrant in January, OPP seized a tablet, laptop and cell phone and police arrested a woman.
On Tuesday, police stopped a truck in Elliot Lake, seized the vehicle, and arrested the male driver.
The man and woman, both 43-years-old, have been charged with one count each of identity theft, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, forgery and two counts of fraud over $5,000.
They are both to appear in Blind River court in March.
