Getting the streets cleaned up this winter hasn’t been easy and the City of Elliot Lake is now dealing with a broken snowblower, which has slowed down the work.
At a special council meeting yesterday afternoon, City CAO, Dan Gagnon, says parts to repair the unit are in at a cost of $6,000 and it should be back in operation by tomorrow.
However, he had looked into the purchase of a new one at a cost of $110,000, but it wouldn’t arrive in time to do any good this year.
To that end, council passed a motion to have the purchase of the new piece of equipment referred to the 2019 budget for consideration for next winter.
