Walk for Alzheimer’s around the corner

Little Current is hosting this year’s Walk for Alzheimer’s and an Espanola woman is putting together a team to take part.

Wendy Ashton says the walk alternates between Little Current and Espanola on a yearly basis and the Espanola Friendship Circle is putting in a team to help raise awareness of dementia, and funds for the Alzheimer Society.

Ashton adds all donations will fund crucial programs and services in the local community that support people with dementia, their caregivers and their families.

The Walk for Alzheimer’s is in Little Current on Sunday, July 3rd this year.

Support

Alzheimer Societies across Canada provide programs and support services to help people with all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, in addition to assisting their caregivers and families to live as well as possible.

Research

The Alzheimer Society is a leading Canadian funder of dementia research. Since 1989, they have invested over $53 million in biomedical and quality of life research through the Alzheimer Society Research Program.

Awareness

Their mission is also to raise public awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. They are a key partner in the development of Canada’s first national dementia strategy, which will enhance research efforts and ensure access to quality care and support for all Canadians affected by dementia.
