Espanola and Sagamok hosting International Overdose Awareness Day events tomorrow
Espanola hosting walk for International Awareness Overdose Day Espanola will be hosting a walk for International Awareness Overdose Day. Local organizer, Linda Collins, says a local advocacy group is hosting the walk to increase the awareness of opioid overdoses, the stigma attached to the losses, and the lack of services and programs to assist those she says need it most. Collins says homelessness and poverty have a profound effect on individuals dealing with opioid addictions and it is important for the public to understand how it has a profound effect on individuals, their families, friends, and the wider community. She says a walk will be held on August 31st from 12 noon until two pm starting from the town office down Highway Six to the Espanola Mall. She adds Public Health Sudbury & Districts will host a demonstration and individuals can share their stories dealing with the crisis.
