Donations for the Elliot Lake Food Bank needed.
With shortages of various food products and with food prices and transportation costs increasing, the Elliot Lake Food bank is struggling to keep their shelves stocked up.
When the covid pandemic hit and everything shut down, the food bank was advised that they could not order in bulk from the local stores as they were not able to guarantee they would get their order. The food bank started buying in bulk from the big distribution stores in southern Ontario. This required them to dig into their bank account to cover the costs.
What they learned from the process is that they need more financial support than actual product support. There is more buying power when ordering in bulk. It also ensures they get the products needed for their hamper boxes.
The Elliot Lake Food Bank will accept cash donations and donations of health/hygiene products and children’s snacks.
