The Timber Village Museum has a series of virtual events going on around Mother's Day. Fascinator Making on Wednesday, April 21st from 2pm to 3pm. Scone Making Bake-A-Long on Wednesday, May 5th from 2pm to 3pm. Tea Party on Friday, May 7th and Saturday, May 8th from 2pm to 3pm. Supplies will be provided and participation by donation. The Blind River Curling Club is hosting their 2nd annual Lobsterfest. We are bringing in live lobster from Nova Scotia direct to Blind River. We have 1.25 lb and 1.75 lb lobster for sale. Our Lady of Lourdes French Catholic School is hosting a free, virtual Indigenous story time and activity series for kindergarteners. There are four dates: May 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th. The series takes local readers from Serpent River First Nations and has them host read alouds, activities and teachings. Power Outage on Manitoulin Island

A planned power outage is set for Manitoulin Island. Hydro One will be holding a planned power outage on Sunday, June 13th. The outage will affect all of Manitoulin Island. It will be from 8 am until 12 noon to give the utility time to upgrade and install new equipment.

Espanola Scouts Popcorn Drive

Scouts out of Espanola  have partnered with a new Canadian popcorn supplier, Papa Jack Popcorn, and will be offering a range of new delicious products which are all nut-free, gluten-free and, of course, products of Canada. Canada Day Fireworks in Massey

The Township of Sables-Spanish Rivers, Sables-Spanish Rivers Fire Department and Massey Agricultural Society are presenting Canada Day fireworks. The display takes place at the Massey Fairgrounds on July 1st at 10:00pm. The Imperial Street gates open at 9:00pm and the display begins at 10:00pm. Covid rules require everyone to remain in their vehicles.
