The City of Elliot Lake should see lower electricity bills and maybe enhanced economic growth. The scenario is the result of the city signing a deal with mining company Pele Mountain to develop energy and energy storage projects for the City. This is a new initiative for Pele which embarked on energy-producing projects last year according to its president, Al Shefsky. It’s now including Elliot Lake in its fold. The projects will take place on City-owned property in an agreement that expires May 1st, 2018. Mayor Dan Marchisella says there are no upfront costs to Elliot Lake.
