The Northern Ontario Service Deliverers Association (NOSDA) says a new funding announcement is a crucial step in long-term care, especially for First Nations.
NOSDA chair Michelle Boileau says yesterday’s announcement by the province that the Community Paramedicine for Long-Term Care Program is now permanent is welcome news for the North.
She adds the government is also providing an additional $89 million in expanding the service, what she describes as a life-changing investment in seniors’ health across Northern Ontario.
She emphasizes the program has already proven its value in our districts by reducing emergency room visits, supporting aging in place, and easing pressure on the long-term care system.
NOSDA represents 10 District Social Services Administration Boards (DSSABs) and the City of Greater Sudbury, which are collectively responsible for delivering critical human services across Northern Ontario, including the Manitoulin-Sudbury DSSAB.
