The final framework of Elliot Lake’s new tourism strategy was reviewed yesterday afternoon by the Economic Development committee.
The city’s economic development manager, Steve Antunes, says the goal of the presentation was to gather feedback from the committee in order to allow the tourism strategy consultant to complete a formal strategy, which is to be presented to council, adding it could be adopted by August 11th.
The proposed ten-year tourism vision is to treat the sector as a source of community building, pride, and prosperity throughout the year.
The strategy builds on five pillars including organization capacity and relationships; community building and engagement; visitor experience; tourism products and marketing.
A town hall meeting was also held last night focusing on all matters related to economic development.
