The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating the death of an infant.
Constable Berkley Parisien says on October 1, 2024, the officers and the Sudbury-Manitoulin Paramedic Services responded to a report of an unresponsive infant at a residence in Burpee Township.
She says the infant was transported to a local hospital by paramedics and later pronounced deceased.
She adds following forensic testing; the OPP is now conducting an investigation.
Parisien says as the investigation remains ongoing, no further details can be released at this time, but anyone with any information is asked to call the detachment.
