Sudbury and First Nation receiving funding for films

The Ontario government is providing over $11.4 million through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation to support the growing film and television industry in Northern Ontario.

Greg Rickford, Minister of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry made the announcement yesterday, which includes funding for Sudbury and a First Nation, which will create jobs and expand the north’s reputation when it comes to filmmaking.

Spinner Productions Incorporated will receive $1-million dollars to produce the six-episode television series called Shoresy in Sudbury.

Atikameksheng Anishnawek First Nation near Lively will be the location for the documentary, Aki by Aki the Film Incorporated with a $200,000 grant.

A total of 27 projects are receiving funding.
