A local area woman has died following a fatal snowmobile accident over the weekend.
Manitoulin OPP Constable Bev Gauthier says on Saturday evening police and paramedics responded to a snowmobile collision in Sagamok-Anishinabek First Nation.
She says a single snowmobile was travelling from La Cloche Lake Road towards the trail and collided with a cluster of trees.
She says the snowmobile operator, a 43-year-old woman from Massey with ties to Whitefish River First Nation, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following her family’s wishes, her name is not being released.
Gauthier says the investigation is ongoing.
