East Algoma OPP lays assault with weapon charge

A Blind River woman is facing an assault charge after wielding a knife in a local business.

East Algoma OPP Constable Bev Gauthier says on Tuesday afternoon around 2:30 pm, police responded to a disturbance at a local business on Woodward Avenue in the Town of Blind River.

She says it was determined the accused allegedly pointed at edged weapon at the store clerk, all the while uttering threats to physically harm the individual.

The person had left the store but was arrested shortly after and an arrest was made.

Gauthier says a 21-year-old woman from Blind River was charged with assault with a weapon and uttering death threats.

She says the woman is to appear in Blind River court on March 3rd.
