Nairn & Hyman Township will wait until its January meeting to fill the vacancy of mayor.
The vacancy was created with the resignation of Laurier Falldien (FAAL-dean) who resigned due to personal reasons and his position in not supporting mandatory vaccinations.
Deputy Mayor Frederic Diebel moved a motion to have the seat declared vacant and the council agreed.
Council also moved a motion to fill the vacancy by appointing a sitting member of the council at the January meeting.
Nairn has a five-person council and the four remaining councillors to be considered for the seat are Diebel, Brigita Gingras, Rod MacDonald, and Katherine Bourrier.
