Purolator’s Tackle Hunger® has launched a Red Bag campaign in support of the Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank.
Purolator volunteers started distributing contactless drops of 1,100 red bags throughout the subdivision of Esten last Friday.
Residents will collect non-perishable items and fill their red bags to be collected on December 11th.
The Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank provides temporary food relief to people who are struggling with hunger in Elliot Lake with a goal is to provide clients with a three-day supply of food once per month.
Mayor Dan Marchisella, along with the president of the food bank, Len Kutchaw, and local firefighters were all on hand for the launch.
Over the weekend, firefighters collected $6,800 in donations at Saturday’s drive-thru Christmas collection.
