Blind River council has deferred their decision on closing down a local playground after residents presented a petition earlier this summer.
Instead, council will consider a request from neighbors opposed to the closure of Shivron Park to pull together a plan to update the playground equipment instead of turning it into green space.
Resident Ben Wiesner led the charge in having 53 neighbours sign a petition asking council to upgrade the equipment at the playground, which has been part of the neighbourhood for over 60 years.
He also told council the group is also willing to fundraise to help bring the playground up to new standards.
Council agreed to defer the motion and support the group in their endeavour.
