Elliot Lake moves forward on required additional residential units

The City of Elliot Lake has passed a bylaw allowing additional living spaces to be built.

The bylaw will permit additional residential units in the primary residential unit and an accessory structure in all zones that permit a single, semi-detached, or row-house dwelling.

Residents interested in adding additional residential units are urged to contact the city for legal requirements.

Additional dwelling units must comply with the Ontario Building and Fire Codes and meet regulations for on-site parking, other zone standards, and servicing, and cannot be severed from the primary residential use.
