The Town of Blind River is just the latest to add an Indigenous acknowledgement to their meetings.
Mayor Sally Hagman and council will now open their regular meetings acknowledging that they are on the traditional territories of First Nations and Metis peoples including Mississauga First Nation to the west.
The acknowledgement also includes that the town is located on Robinson-Huron Treaty Territory.
Hagman and council felt the acknowledgement is a positive step in reconciliation and assists in building the awareness of the strong history and presence of Indigenous peoples.
