A look at the job numbers

There are fewer people on the unemployment line in Ontario.

While the national unemployment rate rebounded to 7-point-eight percent from 8-point four percent in May, the province also added jobs.

Ontario’s Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Minister Vic Fedeli says they are pleased to see employment in Ontario increased by 116,900 in June.

He adds the job gains were among 15-to-24-year olds and for part-time work.

Stats Can point to the easing of public health restrictions in most provinces and more businesses reopening as the reason for the drop in the jobless rate.
