Sudbury composer, sound designer and record producer Daniel Bédard has been presented with the l’Ordre de la Pléiade, an honorary order of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie.
Nickel Belt MPP Frances Gelinas says Bedard works as a composer, sound designer for film and multimedia installations.
She adds he has also been involved in many award-winning albums and toured Canada giving more than 500 performances with the children’s show, Pierre et le Papillon.
His accolades also include teaching courses at Laurentian University and working with high school students and young emerging musicians.
Bedard was presented with the distinction for his contributions, through his work, in promoting Francophone culture.
Gelinas says he has taken on many projects.
“Among his many projects, a special mention for Creatures of The Abyss – Hong Kong Science Center 2012, Otis’ Migration – Philadelphia Zoo 2010, Extinction Theater – Canadian Museum of Nature, Ottawa 2006 (winner of the Trille Or for best screen sound in 2013, 2011 and 2007 respectively).”
He has produced and arranged several award-winning albums, including Stef Paquette / Salut de l ‘hinterland (winner of the Trille Or for best album 2013) and Jacinthe Trudeau / Echo (winner in the Best Folk Album category at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards 2000, and winner of the Trille Or for the best instrumental album 2001). He was the musical director for Night on the Pond and for Ontario Pop.
“Congratulations to him and the other recipients for all they do to promote Francophone culture.
