Cancel Canada Day says a national FN leader

A senior indigenous leader says this Canada Day should be declared a national day of mourning, following the discovery of more bodies at a residential school.

The Cowessess First Nation says 751 unmarked graves have been located at a former school site east of Regina.

Ontario Regional Chief Glen Hare who hails from Manitoulin Island where one residential school was located says the federal and provincial governments should set aside this Canada Day to mourn for the children, including those found at a site in Kamloops, B-C, and at other locations across Canada.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau calls the latest discovery is a shameful reminder of the systemic racism and discrimination indigenous people have faced, and continue to face.

Conservative leader Erin O’Toole says he can’t stay silent while people try to cancel Canada Day.

O’Toole says there’s a difference between legitimate criticism, and always tearing down the country.
