Fire destroys residence in Espanola

Espanola Fire Chief Mike Pichor says he has yet to determine the cause of a residential fire that broke out on Albert Street yesterday morning.

He says firefighters were called out around 10:30 am and it took about four hours to bring it under control.

He says he will be inspecting the residence today to try and determine the cause, adding he was unable to do a complete inspection due to the water in the basement.

Pichor adds the home was insured.

There was no one home at the time and no injuries.

A family member contacted the Moose and says the children who reside at the home part of the time are fine and do not need anything. However, she says their father could use help with personal items for an adult man. The family thanks everyone who offered their help.
