The provincial and federal government has partnered to provide emergency funding to Ontario’s 444 municipalities.
Under the Safe Restart Agreement, municipalities will be provided with up to $1.6 billion as part of the first round of emergency funding.
All local municipalities will benefit.
For example, Espanola will receive just over $311,000, Sables-Spanish Rivers township, just over $229,000, Nairn & Hyman Township $35,500 and Baldwin Township, $43,000.
Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands will receive nearly $267,000, Gore Bay $53,700, Elliot Lake nearly $872,000 and Blind River just over $303,000
The funding will help municipalities deliver critical services such as shelters and address operating pressures that have occurred because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
