It was a back and forth discussion with Espanola council on filling another job vacancy, this time a building inspector to service the town and the three outlying municipalities.
Back in 2017, the town entered into an agreement with Baldwin, Sables-Spanish Rivers and Nairn & Hyman townships.
Mayor Jill beer says the full cost recovery Shared Services Agreement for the enforcement of the Provincial Ontario Building Code would remain the same, meaning a full cost recovery for Espanola.
She adds there is also a 15% administrative fee to cover a portion of the time as required for certain inspections, supervision and other admin costs.
However, some councillors did not see the value in filling the position since Espanola already has a building inspector in place.
Beer disagreed stating it was a diplomatic way to assist the surrounding communities without costing Espanola anything.
In the end, she voted in favour of the hiring breaking the recorded tie vote between the councillors.
