Manitowaning, M’Chigeeng setting up COVID-19 recovery centres

Not only will there be two field hospitals on Manitoulin Island in case they are needed for COVID-19, but two smaller communities are setting up community-run recovery centres.
Nurse practitioner Joanne Mellan says the centres, which will be located in Manitowaning and M’Chigeeng First Nation, will provide last-stage level of care before patients return home.
She says the Manitowaning site will be set up in the town arena and will have between 10 to 15 beds.
Meanwhile, M’Chigeeng First Nation is looking to have its plans for its community care centre completed within the next week or so.
