While many volunteers across the Algoma and Manitoulin districts are making masks, one Manitoulin Island company is making personal protective equipment-grade nursing gowns.
My Ol’ Blues owner Kathy Antonio says her Gore Bay business has teamed up with Pro-Stitch in Sudbury to produce government-approved nursing gowns.
Pro-Stitch sends her and co-worker, Kim Orford, the materials, which they sew together, then ship back to the company with the assistance of Manitoulin Transport.
She adds they are finishing up their first 500 gowns, which will eventually be shipped across Canada and the United States.
She and Orford have set up the worksite to follow COVID-19 protocols.
