The City of Elliot Lake has created an Age-Friendly Task Force to help seniors and other vulnerable individuals in the community.
City CAO Daniel Gagnon says the local grocery stores, Foodland and No Frills, has partnered with the city to provide delivery service for groceries and other essentials.
He says the city is offering a free service via a call-in number and email as part of the task force initiative, which will assist those who need delivery services while they are in self-isolation.
To Access Service:
Please call 705-849-0970 or email [email protected], to register as a client with Age-Friendly
Delivers. An online registration form will be ready soon and available on the city’s website/Covid-19 page.
You will be required to submit your Name, Address, Phone number (required) and payment preference at the time of call, and will receive instructions related to delivery.
Dedicated city staff will then follow up within 24 hours to take your order.
Orders are limited to 20 items, of essential needs at any one time. (3-4 day supply is ideal)
Once orders are placed staff will attend grocery stores to purchase items and deliver to your residence with a ZERO CONTACT approach.
Zero contact means the grocery order will be left at your door with a receipt for purchase to limit exposure to those in isolation. Individual orders will be billed back to clients directly, at which they can issue payment by mailing a cheque or calling in with credit card to process payment at this time. Online payment processing is also coming soon on the city’s website.
