The Ontario Fire Marshall’s office is sifting through the ashes of a residential fire where the remains of two adults were found.
Elliot Lake Fire Chief John Thomas says shortly after 5:00 am on Saturday morning, his crews were called out to a residence at 4 Hart Road, which was fully engulfed in flames.
James Allen, an investigator with the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office says it is not known if the two adults found inside were the homeowners.
Allen adds samples have been sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences and post-mortems will be held in Sudbury today.
He says they determined the fire started in the basement, but are still sifting through the ruins to determine the cause.
