What is being called a peaceful demonstration of solidarity with hereditary chiefs is to be held at the intersection of Highway 17 and 6 north of Espanola.
One of the organizers, Quinton Kaboni, says several Wiikwemikoong First Nation members will be joined by supporters from the local area at the intersection at 12 noon on Saturday.
He says it is a peaceful solidarity rally to publicize their support for hereditary chiefs in British Columbia who are against a gas pipeline crossing traditional territories.
The Espanola OPP is aware of the rally.
Meanwhile, Wet’suwet’en elected band Chief Dan George says his continued support for the Coastal GasLink pipeline depends on what his people want.
Wet’suwet’en members will discuss the tentative agreement reached last weekend between the hereditary chiefs, Ottawa and the B.C.
