A Manitoulin Island man is being fondly remembered by the many people he met over the years, on the powwow trail, as a teacher and as a supporter for organ donations.
Christopher Pheasant of Wiikwemkoong began his spirit journey on Monday.
A long-time teacher, he was also the voice one would hear on the microphone during powwows in the local region.
He also was a strong advocate for the Gift of Life following his own liver transplant a few years ago.
A funeral mass will be held at the Holy Cross Mission this Thursday at 11:00 am.
A community feast to honour his passing and share his stories will be held after mass at the Wiikwemkoong Cultural and Recreation Centre.
He was 58 years old.
