Greater Sudbury resident charged after charitable gaming investigation

A Sudbury man has been charged with theft following a seven-month investigation into a lottery trust account.

OPP Constable Michelle Coulombe says the OPP and Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario were contacted by the City of Greater Sudbury Security and Bylaw Services in June 2019, concerning irregularities relating to a lottery trust account held by the Trailsmen Rod and Gun Club.

She says 64-year-old Richard Sarrazin of Val Caron has been charged with theft over $5,000 and criminal breach of trust.

He is to appear in Sudbury court on January 15th.

Coulombe adds other charitable enterprises in the area may also have been affected and if irregularities are discovered, concerned charities should contact police.
