UPDATE: IDENTIFICATION RELEASED: Drowning at Sagamok point

Manitoulin OPP has identified a Sagamok-Anishnawbek First Nation man who drowned in the North Channel.

Police say Sunday evening at 8:00 pm, officers were called to investigate a capsized canoe on Sagamok Point off the mainland shore of the North Channel of Lake Huron.
The investigation has since revealed that two persons were fishing when the canoe overturned.
One man was able to make it to shore safely and notify emergency services.

Forty-eight-year-old Yvon Toulouse from Sagamok-Anishnawbek First Nation was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say neither were wearing life jackets at the time the canoe capsized.

The investigation is ongoing.
