An off-duty, 17-year member of OPP charged with multiple domestic assaults

An East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police officer is facing multiple domestic assault charges.

Acting Sergeant Shona Camirand, the North East Region Media Coordinator, says on Wednesday, July 24th, an off-duty sergeant was charged in connection to a domestic violence complaint.

She says the 43-year-old male was arrested and charged with three counts of spousal assault.

Carmirand adds the officer is a 17-year member with the OPP and is to appear in Blind River court on Sept. 5th.
