It’s taken several months to put together a working arrangement for live TV Bingo in Elliot Lake.
Sue Jarmovitch has been working with several organizations to put together a plan of action to broadcast Bingo on Sunday nights.
City councilors will decide this evening whether to provide $8,000 as part of the start-up costs for the program.
The Elliot Lake Bingo Association is made up of 15 local charities who would share in the revenues if council lends their support.
Elliot Lake CAO Daniel Gagnon recommends that $3,500 of the suggested city startup money would come from the community grant policy operating budget and the other $4,500 from the working fund’s reserve.
He adds total setup costs are $24,000 including $8,000 for computer, software, cell phone, and specially printed cards.
Another $16,000 is required for fiber optic cable installation and related equipment in the ELNOS building.
Gagnon adds the proposed funding would be split three ways: $8,000 from donations, $8,000 from ELNOS and $8,000 from the city.
