Old Espanola fire hall demolished

The old Espanola fire hall was demolished yesterday ending another chapter in the town’s history.

Demolition of the old fire hall yesterday paved the way for new parking facilities for the new fire hall adjacent to it.

The fire hall opened in 1970 and prior to that Espanola’s fire services were provided by the local pulp and paper mill now owned by Domtar.

The new fire hall will host two celebrations.

Espanola Mayor Jill Beer and her council will be on hand for the grand hose-cutting tomorrow at 1:00 pm.

However, public tours of the facilities will not take place until July 20th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
