Several cruelty to animals charges have been laid against two Manitoulin Island men.
Manitoulin Island OPP say on Friday, October 26th, they assisted the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) with the execution of a warrant concerning animal welfare, at a residence in Billings Township.
An investigation revealed that there were multiple animals within the residence.
As a result, a 70-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, both from Billings Township, have been charged with one count each of cruelty to animals and failing to provide suitable food and shelter.
Officers also located firearms and ammunition while searching the residence.
The 70-year-old is also charged with disobeying an order of the court, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm and careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.
Both are to appear in Gore Bay court on December 12, 2018.
