The City of Elliot Lake has detected a small volume of fuel or oil in the storm drainage system in a drain that exists into Horne Lake.
City CAO Dan Gagnon says the volume of fuel is minor, but consistent.
He says city staff is managing the outflow with absorbent pads, but is also consulting with the Ministry of the Environment and is investigating the storm system to identify and stop the source.
He emphasizes there is no concern for the municipal drinking water or other infrastructure.
