Espanola Police Board to remain the same

Representation on the new police board in Espanola will remain in place.

Espanola council has decided the number of representatives on the police board will remain the same once the Ontario Provincial Police take over.

Next week, on Thursday, October 11th, the Espanola Police Service will officially be disbanded and Ontario Provincial Police will take over.

Council had to decide whether the police board would remain the same since the number of appointees can be reduced.

Council decided the Espanola Police Service Board with OPP policing will continue to be made up of five members.

The board will be disbanded under Section 31 of the Police Services Act and reinstated as a Section 10 Board.
