Due to several brown water complaints, the Espanola Public Works Department had to carry out emergency water main flushing.
Public works had to flush several lines in the town’s south end yesterday afternoon following complaints of brown water.
Public works blames the problem on higher than normal consumption that is putting pressure on the water treatment plant.
The town is normally supplied by one high lift pump at the plant, but the higher than normal use is causing the second pump to start and stop frequently causing the brown water.
The public is being asked to use less water and if residents experience brown water, run a cold water tap until in runs clear.
