The Rainbow District School Board is again calling for one super school board. However chair Doreen Dewar believes the request will fall on deaf ears. Dewar says in the past when Rainbow has asked for the merger of all four school boards, all three mainstream parties have rejected the idea. Dewar says under one board, more schools facing lower enrollment can merge because there’s no multi-board jurisdiction to worry about. The merged schools would still have their own distinct programs. Dewar doesn’t expect the province to agree to the board’s request but adds Rainbow will keep pursuing the one school board initiative.
