Nipissing man fined $2,000 for shooting across highway

A Nipissing District man is looking at a $2,000 fine for firing a rifle across the highway at a deer.  Phillipe Giroux was standing on the highway shoulder and took his shot parallel to the roadway near a curve.  The incident happened last November near Field on Highway 539.  A nearby homeowner complained to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry about the unsafe hunting practices and Giroux was charged.  Giroux is also banned from deer hunting for the next year.
