A delegation of Sagamok First Nation residents is in Dakota fighting a proposed multi-billion dollar oil pipeline. The delegation is standing with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to oppose the proposed pipeline which would run near their reserve. Sagamok council also wants its residents to sign a petition to fight the pipeline and its told U.S. President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that it opposes the project.
Standing Rock recently lost a court fight to block construction of the 1,100 mile underground pipeline. However, the Obama administration has suspended work on the project so it can revisited.  About 470,000 barrels of crude would be transported daily from North Dakota to Illinois.
