Anti-smoking vaccine research underway at HSN

Researchers at Health Sciences North in Sudbury are working on getting people to quit smoking.  They’re testing a vaccine that reduces nicotine in a smoker’s air passages meaning less nicotine makes it to the brain.  The hope is the less nicotine a smoker takes in, the easier it will be to quit smoking.  Mice given the vaccine had lower levels of nicotine in their systems, than mice not given the medication.
