Driver charged after four passengers die

A charge of careless driving has been laid against the man who hit a rock cut near Wawa killing all four of his passengers.  The victims were all males, three adults and one young person and they all died at the scene around 7:30am Monday.  Police still haven’t released their names because they’re still contacting next of kin.  However the vehicle had Manitoba license plates and investigators say it was headed to Toronto.

The driver, who is 52 and from Manitoba, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.  The crash took part on a curved section of the highway 20 kilometres west of Wawa when the vehicle went off the road and hit the rock.  Police haven’t determined if the victims had their seatbelts on.
