Sagamok elects new council; Chief acclaimed

Band elections at the Sagamok First Nation has seen a 50 percent turnover in councillors.  Six of the 12 councillors are new and the majority of the newly elected members are women.          Among them, Rhonda Stoneypoint picked up the most votes at 202.  The Chief, Paul Eshkagogan, was acclaimed to another term.   In fact, when Eshkagogan said last month he intended to run again, the five people who had already submitted their names for chief all withdrew.
