Con artists are getting slicker with their scams as one resident from Val Caron found out the hard way. The homeowner received a bill he thought was from Bell Canada for $200 which he paid online. A few days later the real Bell Canada bill arrived and that’s when the owner found out the first bill was a fake.
Sudbury police are telling northerners to watch for this con. The fake phone bill looks real but police say it’s easy to spot differences. The phony bill only uses numbers to identify an account but real Bell Canada bills use numbers and letters in their account information.
