Elliot Lake under a heat warning today

Elliot Lake and Espanola are under a heat warning today, as temperatures are expected to hit 37 degrees with the humidity. Environment Canada says there may be some relief on the way, as showers or thunderstorms may hit the area. A cold front is expected to move through the area on Thursday, breaking the hot spell.

That heat warning is also in effect for the North Shore, Sudbury, and Manitoulin Island.

Environment Canada says heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to increase the risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
