Caroline Ehrhardt competing at Olympic qualifiers in Edmonton

Caroline Ehrhardt of Espanola is not expecting to qualify for the triple jump in order to compete at the Rio Olympics. The 24-year-old is in Edmonton at Olympic qualifying trials. Ehrhardt figures she’s a long shot to qualify because the Olympic standard is 14.2 metres and the best she’s hit is just shy of 13.3 metres.

However Ehrhardt will use her jumps on Saturday to start preparing for the Tokyo games in 2020. Ehrhardt is a four-time triple jump national champion.
