Algoma University trying to attract more students

Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie is embarking on a three-year mission to attract more international students and students from the GTA.  About one third of the school’s population is international in scope but that number will take a major hit by 2019.  That’s when a program that pays 260 students from Saudi Arabia to attend Algoma U ends.

The university is acting now to ensure it makes up the projected shortfall with other students.   It’s looking at attracting students from the United States, China, India and Sri Lanka.    It also hopes to encourage Toronto-area students to enroll at its campus in Brampton.  And to make the Brampton site more enticing, Algoma U may add political science and computer science to its curriculum.
